What's new: plasma, lasers and 3D models
A lot has landed in MillPath since the beta opened.
Pick your machine: router, mill, plasma or laser
The first question MillPath asks is what you cut with. Plasma and laser get their own operations — Cut and Mark — with kerf, pierce, lead-ins and the rules plasma needs: small holes from the centre, slower sharp corners with the torch height held, small parts, bridges, ramp pierce, start points. Keep your settings per material in a cut chart, measure your kerf with the kerf test, find laser settings with the material test. Posts for QtPlasmaC, Langmuir FireControl, Mach plasma, EIA controls, GRBL and Marlin lasers — written from the makers’ documents, and waiting for your first runs. Lines drawn twice are cleaned on import.
More for routers and mills
Roundover bits in the Chamfer operation, fluting, prism carving, textures and photo V-carving; cutter compensation (G41/G42, wear mode) where the post takes it; a tool holder check for deep pockets; zigzag pockets with far fewer lifts and a spiral pattern; sketch trim and extend.
3D models (beta)
Open STEP, IGES, STL or OBJ right in the browser, place it in the stock, and rough it out level by level, every move checked against the model. 3D finishing is next. Read more.
As always: run new files in the air first, and tell us how it went.
