Safety
G-code moves a real machine with a spinning cutter. MillPath checks what it writes — every toolpath is simulated and every file read back — but it cannot see your machine, its settings, your tools, your material or your clamps. Checking and running programs safely is your responsibility.
Before every new job
- Look at the simulation and the safety checks. Collisions, gouges, uncut material and unsafe plunges are listed there.
- Check the stock size, the work zero and Z zero in the setup against your machine.
- Check the tools: the tool numbers, diameters and lengths in the file must match what is in your machine.
The first time anything is new
A new post, a new controller, a new tool, a new machine — run the file in the air first: raise Z zero well above the stock (or remove the stock), feed override low, a hand on the emergency stop. The controller check does this step by step for a post.
Feeds and speeds
The values in MillPath’s tools are starting points, not recommendations for your material. Take them from your tool maker for the material you cut, and start lower when in doubt.
While it runs
Never leave a running machine unattended. Wear eye and hearing protection, keep hands away from the cutter, and follow your machine maker’s safety instructions.
MillPath is in beta and is used at your own risk: see the Terms of Use.
