CAM for Fanuc

Vertical machining centres with Fanuc 0i, 16i, 18i or 21i controls, and controls that read Fanuc programs (Haas, Syntec, GSK, KND and others in Fanuc mode).

From a post users run

What the Fanuc post writes

  • % at the start and end, O1000 on the second line, comments in capitals
  • G91 G28 Z0 (Z to the machine home) before every T<n> M6 and at the end
  • G0 G43 Z<clearance> H<n>: the tool length comes in on a Z move
  • Drilling cycles G81 / G82 / G83 / G73 with G98, rigid tapping M29 + G84, dwell G4 P in milliseconds
  • Cutter compensation G41 / G42 D<n> for wear
  • Every coordinate with a decimal point (Fanuc reads X10 as 0.010 mm)

Files end in .nc. Every file is read back before export and checked against the simulated toolpath.

Shaped after a Fanuc post users already run (SharpCam's Fanuc machine definition).

If O1000 is taken on your control, change the program number in a copy of the post.

Rigid tapping needs the option on the control; without it use Thread mill.
