Cut (plasma, laser)
Cuts through along outlines with a plasma torch or a laser: kerf offset, pierce, lead-ins and the rules plasma needs.
Use it for: Parts cut from plate on a plasma table, or from sheet on a laser.
Tool: A plasma torch or a laser (kerf, pierce height and delay, cut height, power; values from your cut chart).
Settings
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Side | Auto: outlines outside, holes inside, half the kerf off the line, so parts keep their size. | Auto |
| Lead-in / lead-out | Arc, line or none, and its length. The pierce is made on the waste side; leads are shortened where a hole or a nearby part leaves less room. | Arc, 3 mm |
| Overcut | Cut on past the start so the end meets it cleanly. Holes end with the overcut only (no lead-out). | 1 mm |
| Start | Auto: a sharp corner on a laser, the middle of the longest side on plasma; or pick start points on the drawing. | Auto |
| Small holes | Holes under this diameter are pierced in their centre, cut slower and with torch height control off. | Ø25 mm, 60 % |
| Small parts | Parts whose longest side is under this are cut slower with THC off. | Off |
| Corners | Slower over sharp corners, with the torch height held there. | 45°, 3 mm, 50 % |
| Bridges | Small uncut joints round each part so it stays in the sheet. | None |
| Ramp pierce, THC | Ramp down to cut height along the lead-in; torch height control on while cutting (where the post has the words). | Off, on |
| Order of parts | Nearest, left to right or bottom to top; holes always before their part. | Nearest |
Every operation also has: Tool, Include in G-code, Own safe heights, Start depth, Coolant — see Heights. Hover the (i) next to a setting in the app for the same explanations.
Tips
- Use the kerf test in the tool editor to measure your kerf, and keep your settings per material and thickness in the cut chart.
- Lines drawn twice are removed on import, so nothing is pierced twice.
