Adaptive clear
Roughing with a constant, small sideways bite and the full flute length in depth.
Use it for: Removing a lot of material fast and kindly to the tool: deep pockets, harder materials, metals.
Tool: A flat end mill with long flutes.
Settings
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Depth | Depth to clear. | 10 mm (or the stock) |
| Stepdown | Usually the full depth at once: the bite is in the radial engagement, not in depth. | full depth |
| Radial engagement | How far the tool bites sideways, as a % of its diameter. 8–15 % keeps the load constant. | 12 % |
| Raise the feed for chip thinning | At a small bite the chip is thinner than the feed per tooth; the feed is raised to keep the tool maker's chip load, capped by the machine limit. | On |
| Stock to leave | Left for a finishing operation. | 0.2 mm |
Every operation also has: Tool, Include in G-code, Own safe heights, Start depth, Coolant — see Heights. Hover the (i) next to a setting in the app for the same explanations.
Tips
- Follow adaptive clearing with a Profile or Pocket finishing pass to remove the stock left.
