Drill
Drills holes at circle centres, with a drilling cycle where the controller has one.
Use it for: Holes the size of a drill, pilot holes, holes for tapping, countersinks.
Tool: A drill (or a spot drill, chamfer mill or V-bit for countersinks).
Settings
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Cycle | Drill (one feed down), Dwell (waits at the bottom), Peck (out after each peck to clear chips), Chip break (short lift), Tap. | Peck |
| Peck | Depth of each peck. | 3 mm |
| Depth | Depth of the hole. | stock thickness |
| Through hole | Adds the drill tip length + 0.5 mm so the full diameter goes through. | On |
| Countersink Ø | Spot drill or countersink: the depth follows from the point angle so the cone has this diameter at the top. 0 = normal drilling. | 0 |
Every operation also has: Tool, Include in G-code, Own safe heights, Start depth, Coolant — see Heights. Hover the (i) next to a setting in the app for the same explanations.
Tips
- "Select all circles of this size" picks every hole of the same diameter at once.
- On controllers without drilling cycles (GRBL, Buildbotics) the same motion is written as moves.
- Tapping needs a controller with synchronised tapping (LinuxCNC); elsewhere use Thread mill.
