V-carve
Carves outline text and shapes with a V-bit, deep where the stroke is wide and shallow where it is narrow.
Use it for: Signs, lettering, logos, decorative carving and V-carve inlays.
Tool: A V-bit (60° or 90° are common); optionally a flat end mill to clear wide floors.
Settings
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Depth limit | 0 = full V; a limit makes a flat bottom in wide strokes. | 0 (full V) |
| Clearance tool | A flat end mill that clears the flat bottom so the V-bit only cuts the walls — much faster for big letters. | None |
| Ring spacing | How finely the walls are stepped; smaller is smoother and slower. | 0.2 mm |
| Make an inlay plug… | Creates the matching mirrored plug in a new tab, for V-carve inlays. |
Every operation also has: Tool, Include in G-code, Own safe heights, Start depth, Coolant — see Heights. Hover the (i) next to a setting in the app for the same explanations.
Tips
- Outline text from the Text tool (Montserrat, Oswald, your own fonts) works directly with V-carve.
